Understand Your Numbers
Tracking your income and expenses is important — but understanding your numbers is where it becomes useful.
Take time during your monthly check-in to look beyond the entries and review what they’re telling you.
Pay attention to:
your total monthly income
your year-to-date income
your average income per shift
which clinics you’re working at most often
patterns in your expenses
These details can help you make more informed decisions about where you work, how often you schedule shifts, and how you plan for the months ahead.
When you understand your numbers, you’re not just keeping records — you’re running a business.
This is something I regularly do for my own business and help clients understand and stay on top of through Out of the Woods Bookkeeping.
Clarity in your numbers leads to more confident decisions and fewer surprises over time.
