Track Your Income

If you’re working relief shifts for multiple clinics, don’t rely on memory — or a pile of emails — to track your income. Any spreadsheet system will work; I used Google Sheets in the beginning.

Create a simple system to record:

• the clinic

• the date worked

• the amount owed

• the payment date

• review and update your entries regularly as payments come in

Freelancers often work for several hospitals at once, and payments can come days to weeks later. Without a tracking system, it’s easy for invoices or payments to slip through the cracks.

A simple tracking spreadsheet protects your income and keeps your records clean. If setting up a system like this feels overwhelming, Out of the Woods Bookkeeping can help.

Because every shift you worked should turn into money in your account.
